5 Benefits of Skin Resurfacing

There’s no way around it: Time takes a toll on your skin. And the more time that passes, the more it shows up in the sun damage, scars, wrinkles, and sagging skin on your face.

When you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, your self-esteem suffers, leaving you unhappy and self-conscious. Creams and serums may temporarily improve your skin’s appearance, but results come slowly and often don’t make a dramatic difference.

At Palmetto Aesthetics and Wellness, we understand how frustrating spots, wrinkles, and skin imperfections can be. If you’re seeking fast and lasting results, it’s time to turn to skin resurfacing.

Read on to learn the top five benefits of skin resurfacing and whether it’s the right treatment for you.
What is skin resurfacing?

Non-surgical skin resurfacing is a way to repair damage from the sun, minimize the appearance of scars and other textural blemishes, smooth wrinkles, and give your face clearer, firmer skin. It’s an effective way to turn back the clock, giving you a youthful appearance to match the way you feel on the inside.

At Palmetto Aesthetics and Wellness, we know every patient is unique and has different combinations of skin issues to address. That’s why our team, under the direction of John R. Fleming Jr., MD, has multiple ways to treat your differing needs, providing you with a personalized treatment plan and optimal results.

We meet with you to discuss your specific skin concerns and design a course of treatment. There are a variety of options available, including:

    Chemical peels
    Laser therapies
    Intense pulsed light (IPL) photorejuvenation

Each modality has pros and cons. Some have no recovery time, for example, while with others it may take a few days for your skin to fully recover. The type of treatment depends on your needs and skin goals.
Why should I choose skin resurfacing?

If you want to refresh your appearance, skin resurfacing has many benefits. We thought we’d share our top five with you.
1. You’ll have younger-looking, firmer skin

Over time, skin loses its elasticity. It starts to sag, losing the firm texture and tone you had in younger years. In addition, fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. Skin resurfacing therapies, like laser treatments, increase collagen production, giving you firmer, younger-looking skin. And many skin resurfacing techniques soften fine lines and wrinkles, making skin look healthy and smooth.
2. You can minimize the appearance of sun damage

The sun’s ultraviolet rays damage your skin and cause photoaging, or premature aging of the skin. Skin resurfacing can counter these effects, eliminating brown spots and other pigmentation problems due to sun exposure, leaving you with an even, balanced skin tone.
3. Your acne scars and other blemishes disappear

Acne may be in your past, but the scars it left behind can stay with you for life. Skin resurfacing can help. Different therapies work differently, and if you have acne scars or other skin blemishes, Dr. Fleming chooses the right one to minimize their appearance making them a thing of the past.
4. It’s quick and easy

Unlike surgical solutions, non-surgical skin resurfacing procedures are generally quick and easy. Depending on the procedure, you may need more than one session. But most therapies don’t last longer than 45 minutes, and some require less time, depending on what you need done. Plus, there’s no hospitalization, and in most cases, you can resume normal activity immediately.

After some skin resurfacing procedures, your skin may look better immediately, but with others, it may take several days for results to appear as your skin heals and new skin grows. None require the weeks of recovery time surgical procedures require.
5. You get results that last

Unlike serums and creams, skin resurfacing results last. With most therapies, you leave with a new layer of skin and a boost to your collagen production. Your new skin will still age over time, but it won’t revert to how it looked before treatment. Be sure to moisturize and protect your new skin for even longer-lasting results.
Am I a candidate for skin resurfacing?

While most healthy people can undergo skin resurfacing treatments, it’s important to meet with an expert medical aesthetician to address your skin concerns and review any medical history.

If you’re ready for skin that matches the youthful way you feel on the inside, don’t wait. We’ll address your questions or concerns and work with you to create a customized treatment plan to give you the skin of your dreams.

Contact our office or schedule an appointment online, and let skin resurfacing help your outward appearance reflect your inner beauty.

I doubt that simple discussion can change anything in our country, but if you really have an idea to share, this is your chance to shake our government up. It's quite a good initiative, but to my mind, it will only work when all results of discussion are formed into real suggestions for statesmen.

I hope this project will change something in our social and political state because many of our state's residents are really fed up with the current situation including the world economic crisis, poverty, overpopulation etc.
